Target Market?

Category is National
Written by Westley Annis

GlaxoSmithKline, the multi-national drug company, wants to help those who can't afford to pay for their medications. Sounds great. Let's all pay GlaxoSmithKline on the back.

Wait. You didn't know about this? Why not? Glaxo took out full-page four-color ads in a major national magazine.

Oh, maybe you don't read that one. I can understand.

According to their advertising data sheets, their readership has an average household income of $218,899 with a net worth of $1.6 million. Just the kind of people who can't afford to pay for their own Levitra.

Actually, while we do have to commend Glaxo for their various programs to help people afford their prescription drugs, I just question the practice of advertising in Forbes Magazine. Afterall, Forbes is not known for writing to the Wal-Mart crowd.

Then again, the ad may be in Forbes because Glaxo's advertising agency, M&C Saatchi bought the page months ago without knowing what they would have to actually put on it.

I just find it all very odd.
